Omani National Day Celebration in the UK

November 10th, 2008 | Posted in Oman

I bumped into some of the websites of Omani student societies in the UK and guess what, they are all super excited about the national day celebration. This is THE biggest Omani event in the UK, but if you’ve ever been to one, you would know that it is usually just (arguably) a little bit better that a school musical production made in Bidbid. I’ve taken part in these shows when I was doing my bachelors and Oh. My. God. They. Are. So. Tacky.

Unfortunately, I don’t know any of the Omani people in these societies, so I am not going to the big celebration in Manchester this year (November 21st if anybody is intersted).

You can learn more about this event from the MBC website, oops, I mean the Manchester Omani Society website at this link.

  • PME!
I like the abbreviation, in fact it fits better. The other name doesn’t go well with many subjects. You can e-mail me (if you like), so I can send you what I e-mailed my Omani friends for the National Day.
  • Thanks for your advice PME!

You have a week in advance to book your ticket and make up your mind. I personally recommend that you go; you were saying that you are loosing it. First of all you do need a break since the subject you are studying (law in general boring too much repeation and very precise grammatical usage) even if you like it,,, it is still not like adventurous of innovation. Secondly, it is a good chance to meet new people and might find there one person who will be forever friend??? You can build deeper perspective of than what you read on blogs—some bloggs are tacky too. Thirdly, it is a good way to advertise yourself- eventually you might need clients and exposure for your business. Lastly; listen to an older person advice: You might even meet some people on the train who might impact your life forever. Take advantage of this and celebrate your country.

At the end it is your decision to make. Good Luck.
