Disconnected

Friday, August 31st, 2007

I'm back in Muscat, but I can't go online from our place here because
our phone line has expired. We are using a pre paid land line (sahhel)
and we did not renew it, we've been disconnected for more than two
weeks now, someone was supposed to come a couple of days ago, but he
did not show up. The stupid thing is that we are getting charged for
our the Internet service even though we can't use is.

Final Post From Salalah

Wednesday, August 29th, 2007

I'm on the plain right now, when I look at the trip as a whole it is
not that bad, I think I had fun, but I'm sure I could've had some more
if I was not alone here.

See you guys on the other side!

Offline internet Cafe

Wednesday, August 29th, 2007

Random moment in BC's life, I am in an Internet cafe trying to kill
some time, but the Internet is down, chatted with the guys who runs
the place, turned out to be a cousin of on my school classmates, a guy
comes in asking for help with his laptop, my classmate's cousin says
he doesn't know how to deal with it, the guy looks at me and asks
'what about you?', I tell him I don't work here. Now waiting for the
connection to come back to life. Don't think it'll do, but there isn't
anything to do, other than mobile blog. Less than three hour for
departure!

Dancers in town

Wednesday, August 29th, 2007

Shot some really cool photographs, will share them with you guys
later, I need to kill the four remaining hours, I have a douglas
coupland book to read, but there isn't a single decent coffeeshop to
sit in and just read in the whole of Salalah! I've said this several
times already, but this place sucks!

Ripped off some more

Wednesday, August 29th, 2007

Got ambushed by two Palestinian kids claiming that their parents died
and that they need money for something, I never believe there people
but I just can't say no. (I've recently developed that skill but lost
it for the lack of practice).

I feel so bad when I give these people any money because I never do it
with the intention of doing something good, but because I'm too
embarrassed to say no. So I don't know if this counts as a hassana.
Damn it, I was targeted by there because I don't look southlandish.

A traditional dance group is going to perform in a second here in the
market, will be taking some photographs!

Shopping for Bukhoor

Wednesday, August 29th, 2007

Blogging from al haffah traditional market for Bukhoor, I got ripped
off so badly and I know it, I can't tell a good bukhoor scent from a
bad one and I can't bargain to save my life. Had to buy stuff for my
mom and the wives of my brothers, also bought something for our
advisor at work, she's going to wrtie a review about me in a couple of
months, sucking up a bit can't really hurt, and of course she is nice
and I love her so much and that is the only reason why I got her
something.

Final Day Snack Break

Wednesday, August 29th, 2007

No pan-o-chocolate again today in our section, however, oman mobile is
having an event in the conference room next door, sneaked up to the
buffet and found some precious pan-o-chocolates, however, to my
disappointment they were hard and cold, somehow they had to destroy my
fantasy of the perfect delicacy.

Fat Reader Question

Wednesday, August 29th, 2007

Balqis is wondering how come skinny people like me never get as fat
as, say, her. I think the issue is not how much you eat, but how
healthy your food is, and with that I end today's health lesson!

I packed my bags and I'm ready to check out of this hotel, I still
have the last session of the workshop today, but it won't finish
before 2, so I have to check out now. My flight is at 10pm.

The Land of Bad Attitude

Tuesday, August 28th, 2007

There is something awfull about the attitude of southlanders, they
just are so unfriendly, rude, and very hostile, and that reflects on
the attitude of all foreign employees here, like the asians, they have
no patience and are extremely rude. I've just been to the barbershop
(they're doing a closure ceremony tomorrow, check me out on TV) and he
was just like the rest. Luckily I'm flying back tomorrow evening.

need to go back home.
