Amerie – Losing U

Thursday, August 31st, 2006

I stumbled upon this track a couple of days ago, it’s a new track by Amerie and a French rapper called Willy Denzey. What I found amusing is that the track samples Cheb Khalid’s classic Di Di! I don’t usually link to song files, but I doubt that anybody outside France could ever legally purchase this track, listen to the song here.

Amerie’s new single should come out in September, her third album, titled ‘None of the Above’, is due spring 2007.

LeToya – Self-Titled Album

Wednesday, August 30th, 2006

For some reason I did not get into this album instantly, the hype over LeToya’s was great, but it got released in a period at which I was not really in the mood of listening to new stuff, however, now that I’m listening to it at this moment, I realised that it is a great RnB record, especially in comparison to the obvious comparator, Beyonce. I really liked the tracks and What Love Can and Gangsta Grillz. I got sick of the tracks Torn, She Dont, and Hey Fella as I have listened to this over a million times before the album came out . (Don’t you hate it when you listen to a great track way too much until you eventually get sick of it?). Anyway, Letoya’s debut solo album is a must listen for all RnB fans.

MSN Messenger

Tuesday, August 22nd, 2006

About two years ago, I got into this phase in my life where I stopped using MSN Messenger, it was mostly because I had a difficult time logging off once I log in and I really thought that the time I wasted chatting could’ve been spent doing something more productive than random chat and gossip. Anyway, due to the extreme boredom than I am experiencing recently, I started using my MSN account once more to chat. I never used to block or delete people, but today for the first time in my life, I cleaned up my MSN list, I deleted and blocked all the random people that I did not care about, people that I cannot stand any more, and those that I need to get out of my life. It felt really great! I still have about 80 people on my list, I am going to try to constantly go online to check who comes online and who doesn’t so that I delete all the dead emails addresses as well. I think that this is a perfect time for me to have a fresh start!

BTW, I recently started using Google Talk for instant messaging, it has a cleaner interface and feels really great. You will need to get a Gmail account to use it though. Check it out here.

Omantel is getting REALLY good

Monday, August 7th, 2006

Damn, I’ve seen this website 5 days ago on Digg.com and it worked fine, I thought that I’ll check it again yesterday, and guess what, Omantel Blocked it! It’s funny cause the point of the website was to actually strip a webpage of all its images, so even if you could access the content of a blocked website using this, it will still be only text! Those people are crazy. Talk about freedoms.

This Love

Translation: Jonathan Wu

I heard someone say
“If there is love, there’s peace”
and one may agree with that, or not

Whenever I was in pain
you’d hold me closely
And it was in the warmth of those
arms that I felt peace

But then I you stopped talking to you and closed
off my heart, this love was torn apart

*This time I don’t
let go off my heart
Because the power of belief
will set love free

When you helped me as a friend
I imagined our future together
And though I saw happiness in store for us
I did’t see my own issues

Though our we said our promises would be our compass
we lost sight of the direction this love was going in

**Instead of waiting for a miracle
I want you to hold onto my hand
Because the power of belief
will set me free

You don’t have to fear this love
You don’t have to fear this love, this love

*Repeat
**Repeat

Hot New Upcoming Games on the DS

Wednesday, August 2nd, 2006

Nintendo’s little gem is selling like hot potato in Japan, according to a Japanese newspaper, the Nintendo DS has become the fastest selling game machine EVER by exceeding a sale number of 10 million units since its release in 2004. The DS has redefined the meaning of fun gameplay and has expanded gaming as a genre of entertainment to a wider audience; even George Bush got one as a present on his birthday.

Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin
The next installment in the 2D saga of Castlevania looks very promising. The first CV on the DS was the closest thing to Symphony of the Night, an all-time favourite for many games worldwide. There is no doubt that the graphics and sound of Portrait of Ruin is going to be awesome, but Castlevania has always been about the gameplay and not the eye candy, and yes, previews and hands-on reports have confirmed that it is a game NOT to miss.
Genre: 2D Scroller Adventure, expected Japanese release date: November 15th, 2006.

Final Fantasy III
The FF series has had a great number of remakes over the past seven years, but none had the treat FF3 is getting. The game that was originally released in 1990 on NES will be released on the DS in 3D and for the first time in English. The update is not going to be a merely mechanical upgrade but the dialogue, characters and story will be revised to feature a decent amount of depth to match the game with more recent FF games.
Genre: Traditional RPG, Release date: This month in Japan, next month in the US, Canada and Europe.

Nelly Furtado – Loose

Wednesday, August 2nd, 2006

I’ve been wanting to post my review of this album for some weeks, I finally got myself to do. When I purchase an album, I usually write my review about it after spending a whole week listening to nothing but that album, unless if it completely stinked. I can’t say this about Nelly’s “Loose”, the album does not stink at all, but I can’t say that I loved it to bits or that I got crazy about it. The album is alright, I think that Nelly sounds great and her singing skills are really apparent all over the album, but I still have very mixed feelings about the album, there are some tracks that I thought were awesome such as ‘Say It Right’, ‘Te Busque’, and ‘Wait for You’, but there were other ones that I cannot even remember how they sound like such as ‘Showtime’, ‘Do it’ and ‘Somebody to Love’. I hated the track ‘No Hay Igual’, I don’t really care if she is going back to her roots or whatever. A funny thing is that I thought that songs that I downloaded from over the place and were not on the album that I bought were so much better than the album tracks, those tracks are ‘Runaway’ – a bonus track on DVD of Loose, ‘Undercover’ a b-side on Maneater’s single, and ‘I Am’ a song that leaked before the album came out, I think that it would’ve been a much better idea to have these included in the official album. I believe that Nelly is very talented, I do not think that Loose was a bad album or even a boring one, but I was expecting way soo much more.
