My Blog’s First Anniversary

Friday, February 17th, 2006

Just wanted to point it out! I can’t think of something special to say, maybe just that I love you all. (Or at least I try to! :P )

I shall take this opportunity to complain about my personal life, I am just so sick of all the phone calls, I now have my phone switched off all day long, I used to never switch it off, not even when I go to bed, but now I feel irritated when I leave it on thinking that somebody is going to call right now. Just today, I got 8 calls from 5 different people while my phone was off, that is not to mention the calls that I got while my phone was on and yet decided to simply not answer and those other ones that I did eventually answer. I have issues, I hate almost everyone in here, I think that it is about time I leave this place and just go back home to start all over. I do feel lucky most of the time to realise that I am on my own and that I can do whatever I want, but there are those times when I get these phone calls and it just feels like shit. (I just got a call from a random number as I wrote this last sentence, I did not answer and I’m not calling back).

Anyway, happy anniversary to me… I guess.

Hot Albums Coming in 2006

Thursday, February 16th, 2006

Nelly Furtado‘s 3rd album is titled “Loose” and is produced by Timbaland. I did not really like her previous album, I can barely remember any tracks on that album, but I am already feeling this one, I have heard the tracks “I am” and “Maneater”, and they’re both awesome. Can’t wait to get my hands on this one, it’s getting released next month.

Mya’s Control Freak has been seriously controlled, not a single track leaked, or maybe I just never came across one, and this makes me crave for it even more. She’s working with Dr Dre I heard. The album is going to be released sometime between July and September this year.

The first single off P!nk’s new album is already out, the video for that song makes fun of Paris Hilton, Jessica Simpson, Britney Spears, Lindsay Lohan, and many others, I don’t like the song though, her previous album was alright, the song that is making me really looking forward to listen to this is “Long Way to Happy”. The new album is titled “I’m Not Dead” and is due this April.

Christina Aguilear is also expected to release her 3rd studio album this year.

Shola Ama

Thursday, February 16th, 2006

Another musical jewel of the late 90s that can no longer be found is Shola Ama, a British RnB singer that released 3 albums. Shola Ama has now almost disappeared, she has no serious official website, her record label dropped her after her second album, and her 2002 Japan-only album “Supersonic” had a limited release in Europe. Wikipedia says that she is currently working on her fourth album, but I couldn’t find ANYTHING about it any where on the web. The last known appearance of Shola was on the Pirate’s single “You Should Really Know“. I recently managed to get my hands on the whole of her second album “In Return” which featured the production of Rodney Jerkins, Babyface, and many other high profile producers. I was really blown away with the great album, I really hope that she is working on a new album.

Oman Web Awards 2005 – The End

Tuesday, February 7th, 2006

I’ve found out this on the very first day of Feb, the Oman Web Awards that I have blogged about last month does not exist any more. Their official website shows up a random parking page hosted by their service provider – only ONE MONTH after their scam awards event, their website can no longer be found. Their actual domain URL is http://www.omanwebawards.org/, but they have also used this one as a redirection http://www.omanwebawards.org.om/. Their domain was ought to expire on the 27th of Jan 06, it was renewed (?) on the 29th of Jan, and now should expire on the 29th of Jan 07. The Lebanese agency that was running this probably forgot to renew it until it actually expired and only then got it renewed, the page now has nothing as everyone can see – I won’t be surprised if it stayed so until they do the same event next year.

Update – 09/02/2006: The Oman Web Awards website is now online once again.
