iPod, Apple, and Customer Service

I have never experienced such an awesome customer service in my life before, after I purchased my iPod from Apple.com/uk I realised that there was a student offer of about 10% of the final price, I emailed apple AFTER I received my iPod that I did not know about the student offer and they instantly replied saying that they will refund me. Something went wrong with one of my ear buds, I emailed Apple to see what they can do about their manufacturer’s guarantee, they instantly replied saying they are sending me another one, without even asking me to give back my previous ear bud, in two days, my package arrived, but because I was not at home, a person that lives downstairs (he doesn’t even know my name) was out when the delivery man came, so this guy thought he’ll just sign for it and LEAVE IT OUTSIDE, and guess what? I couldn’t find it when I came back, I didn’t even know that it actually arrived, but I thought I’ll track where the package reached and to my surprise I read that it was signed for by the guy downstairs, I went downstairs and asked the guy if he signed for a package or something, he said: “Yes, I signed for something, it seemed very important, and I left it outside”? I didn’t spend a lot of time with the fool, someone must’ve have stolen it already. I didn’t know what to do now, so I just went back upstairs and emailed apple telling them the story, they replied saying “We sent you another one”.

I am extremely pleased with Apple’s service, their products are worth every single penny you pay. Go Apple!

Out of topic, obviously I had to get myself the Sonic Blue iSkin! ;) Sadly it almost covers completely the custom engraving on the back of the iPod, they should make a cool skin that is more translucent that this one, it is not impossible to see the engraving, but they should alter the design just to make it clear.

I have a couple of working pairs (and one that doesn't work as well) standard iPod earbuds, I don't think that I would now be looking for anything new in the mean time. :P lol, the inner earbuds sound interesting though.

Well the deeper a headphone goes into your ear the stronger the bass will sound. Otherwise to get strong bass you'll need larger headphones, which is what Apple has. They're a bit too large for my ears and they hurt if I wear them for too long. I first tried using a pair of Sennheiser MX400 headphones and they sounded much improved over the iPod originals but they were just as painful. So I switched to the in-ear Apple headphones which sounded great and were very comfortable- though you have to be careful because they isolate outside noise which could you in trouble if you use them outdoors since you wont hear the traffic and could get hit by a bus.

Now I'm perfectly happy with the Sony MDR-EX71 headphones.

Irony, I am not advertising for Apple, they are seriously really good. ;)

Muscati, I would have never thought that such a thing would be covered by warranty, but I actually studied consumer law and I know that every little thing you buy, in the UK, comes under a contractual implied term that it will be of satisfactory quality. :P The whole transaction seemed like a practical exercise.

Talking about the headphones, I haven't tried any Sony ones for ages, but I really like the Apple ones because of the way they 'hang' to your ear instead of stuffing them in.

    Not bad!

I shoulda tried that. My original iPod headphones still work fine but I guess it's because I don't use them. I don't find them comfortable and they hurt my ears. I bought the other Apple in-ear headphones which sound much better than the originals. But they went bad after a few months. I didn't think they'd be covered by warranty. I'm now using Sony headphones which sound much better than either of the Apple headphones, except they're black and don't really match with the iPod. I don't mind though. I also have a sonic-blue iskin.
